[7:00pm] Free Seminar - Geo-Caching
- Description:
- Free Seminar - Geo-Caching in on local expertise
Local geo-caching expert Tom Sanner will be hosting a FREE introductory class for any Harborcreek resident that might be interested in learning more about this high-tech treasure hunting game. The basic idea of geocaching is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, with a GPS (global positioning system) and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all ages with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.
During this 1 to 1 1/2 hour class, Tom will explain the basics of geocaching including what is usually in a cache, where do I hide a cache, how do I use a GPS unit to geocache, along with any other questions you might have. In addition, Tom plans to demonstrate and work with attendees to locate and hide caches during the evening.
While owning a GPS is necessary to do your own geocaching, it is not necessary to have one the night of the class. Tom will have a few GPS units to use for the evening – but if you do have your own, please bring with you.
If you are searching for a new hobby to get out and enjoy the outdoors, geocaching just might be the answer.
