Shades Beach now has a new restroom facility. The restrooms include baby changing stations and motion detection lighting.

Harborcreek Township Parks Department has recently completed refurbishing the existing walking trails behind the township building, adjacent to Municipal Drive heading towards Community Park. See the photos here.

Compost is available from the township. The cost is $10 a load for pickup or $25 delivered. Call the township at 899-3171 and ask to speak with Krista to schedule a time.

Affordable Senior Housing
This 120 unit senior citizen housing facility will soon be available at the old Harborcreek Mall site at 4400 East Lake Road. All permits have been issued and construction is scheduled to start in December, 2011.

Behrend College Sports Fields
To be located along Station Road, immediatley east of the Junker center parking lot is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2011. This project will consist of a multi-purpose synthetic turf field with lighting, bleachers, press box and a concession/restroom building.

Eastway Plaza Upgrade
Benderson Development has started construction of the new Giant Eagle store in what is presently known as the Eastway Plaza. The project will include a complete renovation of the remaining buiding's facade along with new parking lot, greenspace, lighting and stormwater management facilities.

ROADS
|
PennDOT announces culvert project on SR 955 (Iroquois Avenue).
Iroquois Avenue to close beginning Oct 5th to replace a culvert over the tributary of Seven Mile Creek. Project is located between Troup Road and State Rt 20 (near the Moose Lodge). Work Includes construction of a 13-foot long concrete box culvert, new approach roadways, guiderails, paved shoulders, delineation, pavement markings and signs. Work is expected to be complete and road reopened on November 4th. Final pavement will be placed in the Spring of 2012.
