A little information...

On the shores of Lake Erie, Shades Beach is located at 7000 East Lake Road (Route 5) at the intersection of Bartlett Road.

Shades Beach Park encompasses a large area along Eight Mile Creek where there are trails, woodlands, play areas, picnic grounds, a beach area, and boat launch. Featuring two complete organized picnic facilities; each with complete kitchen operations, shared restrooms and playground facilities, and horseshoe courts.

Improvements Project
The township recently made significant improvements to the park:
  • Constructed new large picnic pavillion.
  • New (ADA) playground equipment.
  • Entrance roadway construction.
  • Parking facilities.

Construction of the boat-launch facility consists of:
  • Four (4) boat launches; including an area for small crafts, such as jet skis.
  • Two (2) breakwalls for a safe harbor.
  • Improvement to the beach area.
  • Improve public access, including ADA accessibility to the Lake Erie Shoreline.

The final step has been to improve the restroom facilities. This step was completed in the spring of 2010.
